Customising the Poster Frame in ioGates

Change the poster frame for video files in ioGates, including methods to manually select a frame, upload a custom image, or utilize default settings, with options to adjust these settings for optimal content presentation.

Methods to Change the Poster Frame

  1. Manual Selection:

    • Navigate to the "File Info" menu and open the "General" submenu.
    • Scrub through the video to the desired frame you wish to set as the poster frame.
    • Click the "Grab" button to set the selected frame as the new poster frame.
  2. Uploading a Custom Image:

    • If you have a specific image in mind for the poster frame, select the "Upload" button within the same menu.
    • Choose the image file from your device and confirm the upload to replace the existing poster frame.
  3. Reverting to Default:

Should you wish to revert to the original poster frame set by ioGates, simply hit the "Reset" button. By default, ioGates selects a frame approximately 33% into the video as the poster frame.
  4. Adjusting Default Settings:

    • For a more tailored approach, especially useful for content like dailies, you can modify when ioGates automatically grabs the poster frame via the "Preference" menu under "Preset".
    • Adjusting the setting to grab a frame around 75 frames into the video can increase the chances of capturing the clapper board or another significant early moment.

Optimizing Poster Frame Settings

Tailoring the poster frame selection process through the "Preference" menu can significantly enhance the visual representation of your videos on ioGates. This customization ensures that viewers get an appropriate and engaging preview of the content, improving the browsing and selection experience.
